2023 started with a whirlwind! Literally!
Over the last few weeks, California (where I live) has been getting pounded with record setting storms. We have had rain, wind, a bomb cyclone, a tornado, and flooding everywhere. I feel for all the families that have been impacted by this and I am grateful that our family is safe. Besides a now very messy back yard, and some missing shingles on the roof, we are OK. For that I am so grateful.
Storms are a funny thing. Their might and force is frightening. It’s loud and eerie when winds are howling and rattling your house. But then, there’s a break and everything is quiet. And, if you happen to be in the right spot at the right time, you might even catch a rainbow.
I saw a post recently on Instagram and the guy was saying that nature provides all the answers. You just have to stop, look, and listen. This got me thinking. Life at times is like a storm. It can be frightening, loud, and uncertain. But then, the stress or the crisis passes, and it’s peaceful again. And if you allow yourself to catch a breath, and just be still for a minute, life brings wonders – like a rainbow.
I saw an article today and the good news with this storm is that once it passes, our State’s drought status will be improved. It’s ironic that some destruction was needed to create change. But once the change takes hold, there will be improvement. I may be talking about the storm and its effect on the drought, but isn’t this so true of life too?
Respect the storm. Ride it. Come out of it renewed.
